FAQS

FAQS

HOW DO SPANISH WEDDINGS WORK?
Our wedding will be in a lush venue outside of the city- but you don't have to worry about getting there or getting home! We'll have buses that will bring you to the venue and back to Barcelona. Just make sure that you're at the pickup point on time and enjoy the scenic ride to the wedding!

SAFETY: BARCELONA IS GENERALLY A SAFE CITY, BUT STAY ALERT

Violent crime is practically nonexistent in this vibrant Catalan capital, and most areas of the city are safe at all hours of the day. However, petty crime such as pickpocketing does happen, especially in crowded touristy areas such as surrounding the Cathedral, Gothic Quarter, Port Vell, Las Rambas. You don’t need to avoid them, but be very careful with your personal belongings.

Leave expensive jewelry at home, watches and necklaces in your hotels or hidden while in these areas. It is not uncommon to have jewelry stolen off your body in high tourism areas.

TRAVEL TO / FROM BARCELONA

You will fly into El Prat Barcelona Airport, code is BCN.

-Taxi is the easiest way to get into the city, its about a 25 minute ride

-Uber is not popular in Barcelona but there is an app called FreeNow and another called Cabify

-Taxis are plentiful with stops all over the city. Look for the signs and down on the street and you will see the large markings in yellow/white where they pull in to pick you up

PACKING FOR BCN

In September, the days can be hot and the nights a bit chilly. We recommend a shawl for the wedding since part of the wedding will be outdoors.

If you're traveling close to the wedding date, highly recommend bringing your outfit in a hand luggage that is EU approved. There's no option of renting a tuxedo in BCN so make sure you bring your own outfit already prepared.

TRAVEL BEFORE, AFTER AND BEYOND BARCELONA

You might use Barcelona as your home base and do some day trips, here you have a list of cities you can explore within a day or two:

Sitges,

Costa Brava: Calella, Palamós, Begur,

Montserrat,

Cadaqués and Port Lligat…

For museums, make reservations beforehand approx 1-2 weeks before arrival (even a month before for Sagrada Familia). Don't miss the Sagrada Familia, Museo Picasso, MNAC.

Out of the city: Salvador Dali museum in Figueres is a must

PASSPORTS

PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR PASSPORT IS NOT EXPIRED / CLOSE TO EXPIRATION. To travel to Spain, you need a valid passport issued within the last 10 years and should remain valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen area.

GETTING EUROS

When traveling in Europe it's always best to carry a reasonable sum of emergency cash with you. The best place to get this is at your local bank before the trip. Do not exchange your money in the airport terminal to avoid a high conversion rate—either way, you can use credit cards in most places. Avoid Amex (some places take it, but many don’t) and credit cards with foreign transaction fees. Merchants will always ask you if you’d like to pay in Euros or Dollars, choose Euros so your bank determines the conversion rate.

BEAUTY SALONS AND HAIRDRESSERS

We've added some beauty salons for updos, blow out hairstyles, etc. in the map we've created. All of them are near the hotels we recommend. Check them out and don't forget to make your reservation with time!
